In a large
bowl, mix the first five dry ingredients. Add the olive oil and eggs and blend well. Now
add the anise seeds. Place in microwave and heat for fifteen seconds so that it is not
cold. Add the warm milk and knead the dough thoroughly. Slowly add the warm water and
knead the dough. With the dough in the bowl, cover it with plastic wrap and encase it in
warm covers for 3 to 4 hours until the dough rises.
Take the dough and
remove the plastic wrap. Cut the dough into small portions of about 3 ounces and make into
balls. Dip the balls in the sesame seeds and roll flat to about 1/2 inch thick. Repeat the
process until all the dough is done. Place the rolled dough on plastic wrap on both sides
of a flat, warm surface, like a blanket, and cover with another blanket to make it rise
again before baking.
Pre-heat the oven
to 450 degrees. Place the cookies on a baking sheet and bake for about 25-35 minutes or
until golden. Serve. LVN
